Ben Martin

Ben Martin is a native of Clemson, South Carolina and a graduate of Clemson University with a Bachelor of Science degree in public health sciences. After graduation, Ben worked for Greenville Health System as a data analyst in the Business Intelligence and Decision Support department handling data loads into the cost accounting system, data validations, and submission of data for quality measures reporting.

Last year, he entered the inaugural class of the Clemson and MUSC joint doctoral program in biomedical data science and informatics. Through this new program Ben is working to further his capacity to utilize big data and informatics to improve population health management and research in South Carolina. He is currently working as a research assistant at the Care Coordination Institute (CCI) in Greenville to help build a learning health system for CCI’s clinically integrated network. Building a patient data modeling and classification system for CCI’s database of roughly 5 million patients, presents a great opportunity to bring together the resources and expertise at Clemson, MUSC, and CCI to create new tools and strategies for improving the health of our state.

Ben is the second of four siblings, all of which graduated from or are currently attending Clemson University. Growing up in the town and attending the university, Clemson is a significant part of Ben’s identity. Needless to say, he is a lifetime tiger fan, and the Clemson football’s recent success is something he does not take for granted. Outside of work and school, Ben enjoys spending time with his family, staying active, and going outdoors as much as possible. His favorite activities include running, cycling, hiking, kayaking, and playing soccer.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_single_image image=”14851″ img_size=”500×400″ alignment=”center” style=”vc_box_border”][vc_column_text]
