Elizabeth A. Regan. Ph.D.

Advocacy Chair

Elizabeth A. Regan, University of South Carolina, College of Engineering and Computing. Chair of the Department of Integrated Information Technology and a professor and researcher in health informatics.

My favorite course to teach is Health IT and Clinical Transformation.  Other areas of interest include health information exchange and interoperability, complex large-scale organizational innovation and change, e-commerce, and knowledge management. Work is published in multiple refereed journals and conference proceedings. My first challenge when starting at UofSC was to establish our Master of Health Information Technology (MHIT) degree program.

This is my first year on the SCHIMSS Board as Chair of  the Advocacy Committee.  I’ve served on this committee for the past five years.  I also served two years on the National HIMSS Health IT Innovation Committee in 2015-16 and have been attending the national HIMSS conference every year since 2008.  For the past six years, UofSC has had a booth on University Row to promote our Master of Health Information Technology.

Prior to coming to UofSC in 2011, I was in Kentucky as Chair of the Computer Information Systems Department in the College of Business at Morehead State University.  I was a founding member and chair of the Kentucky Regional Health Information Organization Board of Directors, which became a partner in the Tri-State Regional Extension Center funded by a $10.5m ONC grant.  I also served on the Coordinating Council for the Kentucky State Health Information Exchange.
