Third Annual Advocacy Day Summit

SC HIMSS is also pleased to announce that that Gov. Nikki Haley has given a proclamation naming January 18, 2017, as state Healthcare Information Technology Day!

This is a great opportunity for SC HIMSS members to meet state legislators from their home districts and advocate for healthcare IT policies in South Carolina. This all-day event will include a full morning of speakers, including Murrell Smith (R), Sumter-District 67 and a visit to the SC Statehouse to meet with legislators. This year’s topics include telehealth, cybersecurity and interoperability.

It is a state-based version of the National HIMSS Annual Policy Summit and Advocacy activities that occur in Washington, DC each September.

The event will feature the following:
• Keynote address on HIT-related policy issues in front of the SC Legislature
• Working lunch to learn about the HIMSS positions on the key issues, to review our key message points for our legislators, some guidelines on how to make the interaction fruitful. Lunch will be provided; and
• A chance to go to the Capitol to meet and discuss the issues with your State legislative representatives.
