Presentation: Leveraging Technology to Move the Needle: Improving the Health of SC

Speaker: Dr. Helga E. Rippen, MD, PhD, MPH, FACPM

President and CEO of Health Sciences South Carolina and Clinical Professor at the University of South Carolina and Clemson University

A leader in bridging technology and healthcare to maximize value to the consumer, clinician, and healthcare sector for over 20 years.

Dr. Rippen has held senior positions within a wide range of settings spanning healthcare, think tanks, pharmaceuticals, and federal government. She received her medical degree from the University of Florida; completed her medical residency training at Johns Hopkins University where she also received her MPH; and obtained her PhD in biomedical engineering from Duke University. Dr. Rippen is a Fellow of the American College of Preventive Medicine and is Board Certified in Public Health and General Preventive Medicine in addition to Clinical Informatics.

These are a few of the questions that will be addressed:

  • With access to increasing amounts of information how do we transform data to actionable information?
  • How can technology help support this transformation?
  • How can this be leveraged to improve the health of the citizens of South Carolina?
