Amie B. Cowart, RN, BSN, MSN

Director, Clinical Informatics

Piedmont Medical Center

Amie B. Cowart is the Clinical Informatics Director for Piedmont Medical Center in Rock Hill, SC, a 288 bed acute care facility. In addition to successfully leading an informatics team at PMC to early attestation of Meaningful Use Stages 1 and 2, she has managed multiple EHR implementaion projects, conducted physician and staff EHR training, gap analysis and workflow process improvements. Within her team, she maintains a pool of over 40 Super Users and consistently sustains a provider CPOE utilization rate of over 80%. A lifelong resident of York County, Amie holds a Master’s of Science in Nursing: Clnical Informatics from Walden University, a Bachelor of Science in Nursing: RN from Lander University  and is a member of SC HIMSS. She resides in Rock Hill, SC, with her husband and three children. She enjoys spending time with her family, volunteering with special needs children, baking and refinishing furniture.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/3″][vc_column_text]p1
Sherri Hess, MS-IS, BSN, RN, FHIMSS

Sherri Hess provides strategic and operational nursing leadership in the development, deployment, re-engineering and integration of the electronic health record (EHR) and other technology to support clinicians leading to improving patient safety, quality, and outcomes. She is relentless on ensuring the patient is at the center of the strategy of our technology. She has a reputation of high energy and she role models change management, evidence based practice and Lean methodologies in all projects. She has developed two Nursing Informatics departments, one at a community hospital and the current one at Denver Health. Sherri serves on the Colorado HIMSS Board and is currently President of CHIMSS. She teaches at the University of Denver as an Adjunct Professor. She has 15 years’ experience in Healthcare IT and 25 years as a Registered Nurse.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/3″][vc_column_text]Rebecca Freeman

 

Rebecca Freeman, PhD, RN PMP

Chief nursing Officer

Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology

Rebecca Freeman is the CNO at the Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology (ONC). She previously served as an Assistant Vice President of Clinical Informatics for the Hospital Corporation of America (HCA) and the Chief Nursing Information Officer and Manager of Nursing Informatics at the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) in Charleston, SC.  She is a proud member of the 2013 cohort of the RWJF Executive Nurse Fellowship program.

Dr. Freeman’s first career was in information technology; she began her nursing career in 2006, completing her BSN in 2008 and her PhD in Nursing in 2013.  Dr. Freeman has focused her health IT work primarily on EHR implementations, including the development of Clinical Informatics structures. Her ultimate goal is to enhance care and satisfaction for the clinician and optimize care/outcomes/satisfaction for patients, through the use of the health IT.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
