The National Big Data Health Science Conference is a signature annual event of the Big Data Health Science Center (BDHSC). This 4th annual conference will include innovative plenary sessions, panels, and workshops that emphasize the role of interdisciplinary collaboration in Big Data applications and advancements in the health sciences.
Valerie Rogers, Director, Government Relations at HIMSS, is a featured speaker
Valerie leads engagement with local and state officials on state-level health information and technology policy development. She supports a nationwide network of advocates addressing state/federal legislation/regulations to impact all aspects of health information and technology.
For over 18+ years, Valerie has led and managed cross-cutting government functions, including data modernization, interoperability across the spectrum of care, public health transformation, and health equity programs. Previously, Valerie worked on health system transformation and integration as the Senior Director of Integration at the Association of State & Territorial Health Officials (ASTHO). She also served as the Chief of Staff for the Baltimore City Health Department, where she had oversight of the Department’s clinical information systems. Prior to her time in Baltimore, Valerie also worked for the National Association of County & City Health Officials (NACCHO) as the Director of Public Health Informatics, where she helped expand partnerships among clinical care and public health stakeholders to support the adoption of EHRs, and health information exchange.
Valerie holds a Bachelor’s degree in Sociology from Hampton University and a Master’s degree in Public Health from Tulane University.
